The Pottery Studio

Pinecroft is a potter’s dream come true. Stroll across the pond to the studio and watch the potters at work and begin to understand the quote “Our pots are made from what we potters are.” Selma and Jimmie’s dream of a place where creativity flowed and the arts would flourish to nourish the soul has come to pass. Enjoy the simplicity of clay and return home with a permanent reminder of the tranquility and peace of Pinecroft…a handmade pot to renew your spirit.  Visitors are welcomed daily. The workshop studio makes its home in a bent of the old Horton St. Market from St. Thomas moved to this site over 80 years ago. Renovated and expanded to include both the production studio and teaching facilities, it is a beehive of activity throughout the year producing all the pottery sold in the gallery & gift shop. Made to be used and enjoyed, Pinecroft pottery is ovenproof, dishwasher safe and may be used in a microwave.

Teaching pottery and presenting the joy of working with clay and encouraging the appreciation of the arts has been a goal of Pinecroft since its beginnings. In the early 1950’s Selma and Jimmie Clennell began to teach and throughout their careers continued to encourage hundreds of people to embrace the love of clay and the pots that were made from it. Today classes are offered in pottery focusing on learning to throw on the wheel. Classes are held in the teaching studio on site on select weekends throughout the year.
